President's Message

Celebrating Progress and Looking Ahead for Caring Campus

Dear Caring Campus Community,

As the fall semester progresses, I hope staff and faculty are deeply engaging with the Caring Campus behavioral commitments, ensuring that every student feels a true sense of belonging and is empowered to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

In recognition of the dedication and hard work of our Caring Campus institutions in championing student success, we are proud to announce the official launch of the Caring Campus Certification program. This certification allows colleges and universities to showcase their implementation strategies and the institutionalization of Caring Campus across varying levels of achievement. We encourage you to begin applying for certification now through your free Caring Campus Network (CCN) membership, with results announced in January 2025. We can’t wait to learn about the incredible impact you’re making on your campuses and look forward to celebrating your efforts!

Our next CCN webinar is scheduled for mid-November and will offer practical guidance on navigating the certification process and beginning your application. Stay tuned for the official webinar date announcement.

On Oct. 2, Caring Campus Associate Vice President Dr. Bola King-Rushing led staff and faculty in an engaging CCN webinar about how to make the most of your free CCN membership. For those who were not able to attend, the recording is available to view below.

Mark your calendars for the inaugural Caring Campus Conference 2025: Building a National Culture of Care! In San Diego, California, from November 12-14, 2025, staff, faculty, administrators, and researchers from Caring Campus institutions across the nation will gather to share strategies and best practices for student success. With notable keynote speakers Vince Tinto and Peter Felten, this will be a conference that you will not want to miss. Keep an eye out for registration details coming soon.

Irvine Valley College president Dr. John Hernandez and Caring Campus Vice Associate President Dr. Bola King-Rushing presented at the California RP Group's Strengthening Student Success Conference on Oct. 10.

On Oct. 10, Dr. King-Rushing and Irvine Valley College President Dr. John Hernandez delivered a compelling presentation at the California RP Group’s Strengthening Student Success Conference. They shared valuable perspectives on IVC’s experience with Caring Campus and how the college maintained a culture of care throughout the COVID-19 lockdown. The session sparked meaningful discussions and thought-provoking questions from the audience about Caring Campus’s impact on fostering student success.

Our Caring Campus Academies (CCA) will now be open to all college staff and faculty, not just new hires. This change will ensure that every employee can contribute to building a caring culture and is equipped to play a role in student success. The next CCA cohort will launch in February 2025.

Connect with us today to learn more about how we can help your campus or District office continue to build and nurture a culture of care.
