President's Message

Advancing a Culture of Care this Fall

Dear Caring Campus Community,

I hope your summer is off to a restful and rejuvenating start.

You are invited! We are eagerly looking ahead to the Caring Campus Conference 2025: Building a National Culture of Care, where faculty, staff, administrators, and researchers from across the country will gather to share ideas and strategies for fostering student success through care and connection. We’re honored to welcome keynote speakers Dr. Vincent Tinto and Dr. Peter Felten, along with a dynamic lineup of presenters who bring deep insight and practical experience to this work.

Here is a preview of just a few of the powerful sessions on the agenda:

Temple College Associate VP of Student Services and Enrollment Management

Building a Culture of Care: Redesigning Enrollment Through Caring Campus Principles

Building a Caring Campus: Strategies from Palo Alto College

Dr. Ashley Faris

Building Inclusive Classrooms: A Student-Centered Approach to Course Structure and Assessment

If your institution is making strides in advancing a culture of care, we invite you to submit a presentation proposal by Saturday, August 30, and allow colleagues from across the nation to learn from you experience.

And join us in San Diego from November 12-14 – you can register today!

At the conference, we will proudly recognize our inaugural class of Caring Campus Certified institutions. Applications for certification are still being accepted on a rolling basis, though later submissions may not be included in the conference recognition. Becoming a Caring Campus Certified institution is a powerful way to showcase your institution’s commitment to creating a supportive environment for every student.

Hartnell College earned silver Caring Campus Certification, highlighting their efforts to foster a campus culture centered on connection, compassion, and support for all students.

Our fall Caring Campus Academy cohort is right around the corner! Due to popular demand, we are also adding administrative sessions this fall. Sign up today!

“We wanted to send a significant number of employees to the Academy to further our commitment to creating a supportive and caring environment for all students. The Academy helps institutionalize Caring Campus principles, making it easier to sustain these efforts even as new employees join the college.”

Kristen Holmes, Wallace State Vice President for Students and Chief Marketing Officer

Beginning July 1, we will be offering Caring Campus Network (CCN) membership at half the annual rate for the remainder of 2025. This special rate is designed to make it easier for more colleges and universities to join the CCN and gain access to exclusive benefits, including discounted registration for the upcoming conference, a robust database of proven strategies from other institutions, webinars, and a nationwide community of committed professionals.

Thank you for your continued dedication to student success and Caring Campus. Connect with us today to learn more about how we can help your campus continue to build and nurture a culture of care.

Sincerely,

Brad Phillips, Ph.D.
