Trudy Bers

Dr. Trudy Bers is President of The Bers Group, an educational consulting organization. She was formerly the Executive Director of Research, Curriculum and Planning at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, Illinois. She has also been a Data Coach for Achieving the Dream; a consultant-evaluator for the Higher Learning Commission; and a faculty member in the University of Maryland University College doctor of management in community college leadership program.

She has been president of numerous organizations, including the Association for Institutional Research (AIR), the Council for the Study of Community Colleges, and the National Community College Council for Research and Planning. AIR honored her with the 2021 Sidney Suslow Scholar Award which recognizes an individual who, through scholarly work, has made significant contributions to the field of institutional research and advanced understanding of the profession. 

Bers’ extensive communications contributions include serving on editorial boards; editing professional journals; publication of more than fifty articles in professional journals; co-authorship of professional development courses. She is a frequent conference presenter. Dr. Bers earned her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Illinois-Urbana and holds an M.B.A. from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, an A.M. in Public Law and Government from Columbia University, and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Illinois-Urbana.
