As we progress into 2025, we look forward to a year of growth as the programs we launched in 2024 continue to expand, offering Caring Campus colleges and universities new and innovative ways to serve students, institutionalize Caring Campus practices, and improve success for all.

As we reflect on this past year, the extraordinary strides made by Caring Campus community colleges and universities in fostering student persistence, retention, and success across the nation fill our hearts with joy. Your unwavering commitment to placing student connection at the center of your work is not only inspiring but has been transformational for so many students.

In times of adversity, such as the recent hurricanes and disasters that have affected many communities in the east, it is heartening to witness a spirit of care and compassion in action. Pasco-Hernando State College in Florida has gone above and beyond in supporting its students by providing funds, supplies, and much-needed resources to the students who were affected.

As the fall semester progresses, I hope staff and faculty are deeply engaging with the Caring Campus behavioral commitments, ensuring that every student feels a true sense of belonging and is empowered to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

At IEBC, we know that research shows that cultivating a strong sense of belonging on college and university campuses is vital for student success. Caring Campus shifts the responsibility to connect from students to educators, partnering with staff and faculty to create a culture where caring is fundamental and every student feels valued and included.

The beginning of a new academic year is both exciting and daunting for students, as they face new opportunities and uncertainties. Welcome Week is a crucial time for colleges and universities to make students feel valued and part of the community, not just another face in the crowd.

Caring Campus is essential for helping colleges and universities cultivate a culture of care that promotes persistence, retention, and success for all students. The higher education landscape continues to evolve and we are committed to the ongoing growth and adaptation of Caring Campus to ensure it aligns with the needs of today’s students.
