Creating a Culture of Caring Across the Institution
All new faculty and staff understand the importance of fostering a sense of belonging for students AND understand the ways in which they can help to foster this sense of belonging.
Outcome:
Every new faculty and staff member engages with Caring Campus in their 1 st year of employment.
The Why
- Colleges want to institutionalize and sustain Caring Campus
- Sustaining this work becomes challenging with new employees arriving every semester
- Most colleges do not have formal training for new employees to help them understand and practice the Caring Campus behavioral commitments
- The Caring Campus Academy offers a high-quality, low-cost approach to ensure that all new faculty and staff are ready to engage in Caring Campus behavioral commitments within one semester
The What
- Faculty and staff will be introduced to the research, practice and outcomes of Caring Campus through six, one-hour sessions
- Faculty and staff will support creating a caring culture at their institution
- Sessions will take place on Zoom
- Participants will learn about the behavioral commitments
- Faculty and staff will engage in the commitments and report their experiences throughout the training
Time and Resources:
- Faculty and staff commit to attend six, 1-hour sessions over the course of one semester (preferably during the first semester of employment)
- $250 – $450 (for CCN members) per individual participant, depending on the size of the college
- Discounts will be available for colleges sending more than 10 employees
