Napa Valley College Participates in California ‘Caring Campus’ Initiative
NAPA CA, SEPTEMBER 21, 2020 – Napa Valley College is one of 18 California community colleges selected to work with the Institute for Evidence-Based Change (IEBC) to incorporate the ‘Caring Campus’ initiative’ into its student success efforts this year. Despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic on higher education, Napa Valley College is committed to implementing its college-specific Caring Campus approach to student success.
IEBC and NISOD form New Partnership to Accelerate Expansion of ‘Caring Campus’ Nationwide

Drake State Unveils Initiatives to Enhance Learning Process
Drake State is one of 10 community colleges across the U.S. selected for the Institute for Evidence-Based Change (IEBC) Caring Campus Initiative. “We’re thrilled to have been selected by the IEBC to participate in this innovative and intentional approach to student engagement,” said Dr. Nicole Bell, interim dean of Student Services. “It’s exciting to see the impact it can have on our students and their academic success.”
Supporting Community College Professional Staff: A Caring Campus Approach
In this one-hour webinar, IEBC leadership and special guests addressed issues that professional staff face while providing virtual student services and also presented practical ways for college leadership to support professional staff in their work to support students. Seven Community Colleges Nationwide Join ‘Caring Campus Initiative’
San Diego, Calif. – Seven community colleges have been selected as new participants in the “Caring Campus Initiative” led by the Institute for Evidence-Based Change (IEBC). Funded by a second round of Ascendium Education Group (AEG) funding for 2020 following an initial grant in 2019. IEBC will focus on faculty and their non-academic role in increasing student success.

Social Distancing Does Not Mean Social Isolation: The Case for Caring Campuses Now. IEBC makes the case for Caring Campus Now in The EvoLLLution, an online newspaper for the higher education community. Co-authored by IEBC President/CEO Brad Phillips and IEBC Chief Operating Officer Jordan Horowitz, the article describes the need for staff and students to maintain contact and communication and to reinvent the concept of student support in a virtual environment.
