Drake State Unveils Initiatives to Enhance Learning Process
Drake State is one of 10 community colleges across the U.S. selected for the Institute for Evidence-Based Change (IEBC) Caring Campus Initiative. “We’re thrilled to have been selected by the IEBC to participate in this innovative and intentional approach to student engagement,” said Dr. Nicole Bell, interim dean of Student Services. “It’s exciting to see the impact it can have on our students and their academic success.”
Supporting Community College Professional Staff: A Caring Campus Approach
In this one-hour webinar, IEBC leadership and special guests addressed issues that professional staff face while providing virtual student services and also presented practical ways for college leadership to support professional staff in their work to support students. Seven Community Colleges Nationwide Join ‘Caring Campus Initiative’
San Diego, Calif. – Seven community colleges have been selected as new participants in the “Caring Campus Initiative” led by the Institute for Evidence-Based Change (IEBC). Funded by a second round of Ascendium Education Group (AEG) funding for 2020 following an initial grant in 2019. IEBC will focus on faculty and their non-academic role in increasing student success.

IEBC makes the case for Caring Campus Now in The EvoLLLution, an online newspaper for the higher education community. Co-authored by IEBC President/CEO Brad Phillips and IEBC Chief Operating Officer Jordan Horowitz, the article describes the need for staff and students to maintain contact and communication and to reinvent the concept of student support in a virtual environment.

Chancellor’s Office Expands ‘Caring Campus’ Partnership with IEBC to Additional California Community College
San Diego, Calif. – The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO) is expanding its partnership with the Institute for Evidence-Based Change (IEBC), implementing the ‘Caring Campus’ Initiative in California with an additional $500,000.

The February 2020 Newsletter details the partnership expansion between IEBC and the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO), implementing the ‘Caring Campus’ Initiative in California with an additional $500,000.The new funding will support the addition of 18 new community colleges to the program, as well as providing ongoing support to the 18 original participating colleges, empowering one-third of all California community colleges to be ‘Caring Campuses.’
IEBC Newsletter – December 2019
The December 2019 Newsletter highlights the expansion of Caring Campus nationwide with a second grant from Ascendium Education Group that supports a focus on faculty, expands the work with staff, and supports a CCRC partnership to gain a better understanding of how the initiative works to change college culture and improve student outcomes. Also included are conversations with IEBC leaders, a Caring Campus coach and the Community College Research Center (CCRC) director.
